The national deputy from La Libertad Avanza, José Luis Espert, hit out at the governor of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, over the situation of violence and insecurity in the province, calling him "inept," "useless," and responsible for the bloodshed. In his intervention in the Chamber of Deputies, Espert emphasized the need for Kicillof to be held accountable for his failure, urging him to resign for being inept or to request help from the national government to combat drug trafficking and insecurity along with federal forces.
The legislator highlighted that it is fundamental for criminals to feel fear of committing crimes and facing security forces, stressing that there is no security without authority and no justice without punishment. Espert mentioned that Kicillof is the main responsible for the escalation of violence in the province of Buenos Aires, emphasizing the more than 60 people killed so far this year. For the deputy, it is necessary to choose between being on the side of the victims or the criminals.
Espert criticized Kicillof's lack of action and leadership, describing the province of Buenos Aires as an "open-air prison" where criminals impose a curfew at night. He accused the governor of having abandoned the province, turning it into a place besieged by terror where insecurity is a palpable reality. According to the deputy, it is imperative to provide security to the province and dignify the security forces.
The legislator also pointed out the responsibility of the Buenos Aires government in the lack of judicial rulings against criminals, as well as the judges' fear of imprisoning them. Espert advocated for a forceful action against drug traffickers and providing the police with the necessary resources to combat crime. Finally, he called for no tolerance of excuses and to take effective measures to ensure the safety of citizens.
